WASHINGTON, DC
The clients had a lofty goal for a small project: absorb the neighborhood's water passing through their yard on its way to the Chesapeake Bay.
SITELAB collaborated with the project’s landscape architect to create an outdoor room in the rain garden. Site analysis and design identified the existing swale location. Seasonal plantings and garden paths were integrated to provide increased opportunities to engage the garden at all times of the year. A shared language was developed for architecture and landscape elements to create a cohesive experience. Set on a slope, the raised house had treehouse views but limited garden access.
