SITELAB Architecture + Design is committed to a collaborative process. We take an interdisciplinary approach to crafting the built environment.

Every project begins with a client, a need and a desire.

The client brings with them a tangible need in the form of a new space for habitation. They also bring a less tangible, but no less important, set of assumptions about what it means to dwell comfortably, purposefully, and joyfully in the world.

Every project proceeds with a site.

For some projects, this may be a previously inhabited place – a landscape, a street, a city, a view -- that carries echoes of former inhabitants. Some sites are less about location than they are about culture -- of a community, an organization, a household.

Every project is a laboratory for investigation.

SITELAB brings to every new project the analytic tools of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning to investigate the specific conditions of the “site” and explore the unique aspirations of the client.

SITELAB provokes spirited conversation around design, working with clients to create spaces that feel inevitable in their simplicity and inseparable from their physical and cultural landscape. We like figuring out the puzzle of what will make the most difference in clients’ lives - from arrangement and layout to space and material. Through engaged discussion and careful listening, a collaborative design process emerges, yielding physical form and material expression.
